Growing up in a small town, Taiping in Northwest Malaysia, we spent most of our family time in Taiping Lake Gardens, a public park with Angsana trees and a lotus pond. Taiping was established in 1880 on the site of an old tin mine. Nearby, Taiping Zoo breeds endangered species such as the Malayan tiger.
My family has always been my primary source of strength. Even though we have all moved to different cities today, we try to keep up with each other's lives at least twice a week. I learn things from the people in my life, such as my family members, colleagues, and friends. I also read many books over the years; they have had a positive impact on my life. One of my favourite books is 'The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari' by Robin Sharma.
In my family, it is my mother who has been my biggest inspiration. She is a tough cookie and she has a lot of value and strength to offer. It is from my mother that I learned to have a good focus to solve issues in life. After all, balancing your personal and professional life, too, is about your ability to focus on things. Being able to focus helps us in managing our time well and overcoming distractions. Overcoming distractions at the workplace can be achieved through practice and patience. At the same time, it is crucial to jump out of work and spend time with your loved ones when you finish work. Work is essential, but so is family.
Spending time with family plays a major role in keeping the bonds strong. To date, my most significant achievement has been getting my bachelor's degree in Mass Communication. It taught me that we need to love and believe in ourselves to attain our goals. We need to remain committed to our vision and work to the best of our abilities. Furthermore, we need to execute our tasks with utmost sincerity and hard work. In reality, everyone is given the same opportunity. So it is upon us to make the best use of it to shine.
When it comes to the working of an organization, the opinions of each individual affect the team. I feel blessed that I have the ability to multitask. There's always room for all of us to learn. It could be from our colleagues or others by mastering the art of listening and learning. We must have faith in our decisions and the courage to love ourselves and follow through with the same. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
