Job Description
We are currently looking for a successful candidate to take on the Director of Governance, Compliance & Integrity role to assist the University in accomplishing its objective by leading the development and continuous improvement of the organisation’s governance arrangements, risk management and compliance, as well as acts as a catalyst for improvement outcomes.
The Director will establish and lead a streamlined, coordinated, and cohesive governance and compliance approach to strengthen and expand risk and governance capabilities as well as support a strong and effective risk management culture across the organisation.
Reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer (PCEO), the Director of Governance, Compliance & Integrity has duties that include but are not limited to:
- Acts as the Company Secretary to Governing Committees.
- Provides strategic and operational advice to employees and stakeholders on matters related to legal, governance and compliance.
- Manages Regulatory Compliance Programmes (RCP) within INCEIF independently.
- Manages the engagement with stakeholders to obtain feedback on current and/or new policies, guidelines, programmes and implementation plan, for continuous improvement.
- Identifies key compliance risk areas and close the identified gaps.
- Designs, plans and implements the process of culturing, institutionalising and the implementation of compliance and integrity in INCEIF.
- Manages the engagement with regulatory authorities and government bodies on compliance related matters.
- Facilitates and leads continuous improvement opportunities across INCEIF by prompt reporting to the Top Management and Governing bodies.
- Fully accountable for the content, accuracy, validity and integrity of advice provided.
- Makes decisions and guided by core values, strategic plans and priorities, legislative and regulatory frameworks, delegations, and Department policy and procedural frameworks and guidelines.
- Sets the direction, targets and annual plans and budgets for the department and ensures that the departmental KPIs’ or plans are tracked and met.
- Undertake any other duties that commensurate with this post, as required by the PCEO.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess the following requirements:
- A strong leader with a minimum 10 -15 years of professional experience in Governance, Risk and Compliance function at a senior role.
- Possesses a degree/Master’s Degree with a specialisation in Law, Finance, Accounting or any equivalent level education in related discipline. Internal Audit Certification (e.g. CIA) or Accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CIA) would be an added advantage.
- Experience of company secretarial working at a senior level within the university or financial industry sectors with ICSA qualification would be preferred.
- Sound understanding of the legal and regulatory laws in Malaysia. Exposure in local and international compliance standards and regulations is an added advantage.
- Proven track record at a senior management level in governance, risk management and compliance as well as ethics.
- Contract management.
- Experience in developing and operationalising compliance policies and initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills to understand and communicate risk and governance issues with senior management. E.g. ability to promote and enforce the control framework and governance related initiatives by influencing and motivating all stakeholders at different levels including senior management and members of Governing Bodies.
